MDS BLOG HOP: End of School

YEA!  This is my first time participating in a blog hop!!  How fun!  The theme is End of School!  I can't believe there are only 3 and a half weeks left of the school year!!  I used the Fantastic new download "See Ya Next Year" download for this page #134509.   This download is full of fun stamp brush pieces and papers for the whole school year.  I love that notebook paper!

The photo's in this page are not quite right, the top photo is actually the last day of last year, and the bottom photo is the first day of this year.  Once I get my new last day picture from this year I will change them out.  Its great to actually be ahead of things for once!!

I am also  making a fun Swatch book for my son Zachary, who is finishing kindergarten this year.
Rivet Swatchbooks are so fun and affordable.  I've made several of these gems!
You get 26 pages for just $9.95 US right now (normally $12.95)  They open like this...

I wont show you all 26 of my pages, but here are a few!   I used the See Ya Next Year on this project as well.

MDS Monday 13

It's time for a new sketch at MDS Monday!  Today Rochelle is the hostess and she has created a fun sketch and a challenge for us to use monochromatic colors on our pages.

Here is my take on the sketch.  Head on over to the MDS Monday challenge blog and see what the other designers have come up with.  Then, create a page of your own.  I hope you join us at MDS Monday!

More Teacher Gifts

I designed this note pad for the teachers at my sons' school.  Yesterday I showed you the project for my daughter's teacher, so I thought I would show you what I made for my 5th grade son David and my Kindergarten son Zachary's teachers.  The boys have  several teachers, so I had lots to do, MDS is perfect when you want to make multiples.  I designed the note pads, then just changed the text box with the teacher's names.  David is in a program called REACH for math and language arts, and also has his 5th grade teacher, so he needed 2 gifts.  Zachary gets extra help in his reading and math and has a kindergarten teacher, so he needed 3.  It was super easy to just change the text box of the names, and then send them off to the printer.  I wanted note pads, and Stampin' Up! doesn't print note pads, so I decided to go with a company called Vista Print.  My husband had pens made through them and the pens came in just 5 days, so I decided to give them a try.  THREE DAYS!!  That's it!!  I got my custom note pads in three days!!  I was so surprised.   They are super cute and I'm bummed I did not make one for myself!  Here is what I sent to the printer.
And here it is in real life!  I made matching cards with my real stamps.  I then bagged them up with some Hershey kisses and tied some left over Sale-A-Bration ribbon to the bags and I was done!!  I got two pads for each teacher, so ten pads for $53.82 including the shipping.  I did have a nice coupon but I see Vista Print coupons all the time so I am sure they are easy to come by.  I will definitely use them again.   Maybe I need to design some pens in MDS?  FUN!
Here is the pad with the matching card.  The card was inspired by Mary Brown, who always inspires.  And since I made the pads match the cards I guess she inspired those too.
Here they are all bagged up!
Now, go make some MDS gifts!!  Mother's Day is coming you know!!

Teacher Appreciation

I made these note cards for my daughter's pre-school teacher for Teacher Appreciation week.  I love that MyDigitalStudio makes it so easy to make personalized gifts.  The cards say "from the desk of Mrs. Baerenklau" and I left them blank inside so that she can use them for any reason.

The "apple" heart is made from a variety of elements.  The heart is a paper button, the stem and leaves are punches, and I added a bakers twine bow to the button heart because empty buttons bug me for some reason :)

You can design all four sides of a card in My Digital Studio, so I added a smaller version of the heart to the inside too.

When you order your print products from My Digital Studio, they come with an invoice sheet, and it has an image of your ordered product.  I cut this image out and used it to embellish the front of my box.
Here is a picture of the note cards in the little holder I made for them.
And here is  my gift all wrapped up and ready to go!

I hope I've given you some ideas on making some personalized gifts for the people in your life!

25% off SALE on Select MDS Downloads and Printing!!

Stampin' Up! is having a digital Sale!!   I love a good sale, and lately I especially love a digital sale!  There are lots of downloads available at 25 % off starting today and going through June 15.    I looked through the list this morning and put in a kinda large order for downloads.  The Downloads that are on sale are Photobook templates, Swatch book templates, Calendar templates and things like that.   These are typically the higher priced downloads, so a sale on these is great.  When looking at the sale downloads, remember to click on the "more images" button.  This will show you all the papers, stamps, punches, and embellishments that come with the photobook.  If you look at all the items that come with the download, you can really see the value.  I have only used a photobook template as is (I mean as a full book I purchased) once, but I use the papers and extras all the time!  The Back to school download is great for boys as it's not so flowery, and it has a great chalkboard background paper that I've used countless times.  The Convention 2012 download also has nice chalkboard papers in several colors, as well as cute chalkboard looking frames and swirls.  I've made some framed verses with that download.   The Convention 2011 has cute butterflies, stitched frames, a paper clip, and more.  I've made some fun pages with that.  As you can see, I have lots of downloads.
here is the Back to School Template download.
Here is the Nobody's Business download.
This is the Stay On Track download, it has cute images, bold colors. fun stuff.
The Story Book download is HUGE!  It has so many paper, stamps, embellishments.  All super cute for little kids or teachers.  I made some place mats with this download, as well as teacher cards, and some back to school pages.
Anyway, there is just so much on sale I could go on forever!  And, if you get some projects finished this month, be sure to send them off to be printed by June 15 to get 25% off that too!

Crazy?

Is it too Crazy?  I'm asking about my page, not my daughter, although both may be in question.  I used brighter colors than I usually do, and I'm not sure yet what I think.  I like it because it makes me smile.  Jillian is fun and unique and bright colors just seem to go with her.  But, bright colors are not usually my thing.  I love that font though!  It was a free download called "Fish Fingers".   Fonts can have the strangest names sometimes!

The papers and elements on this page are from the Nobody's Business kit.   This kit is fun, it has lots of bright yet grungy papers and embellishments.  I used it here on my Willis Tower page.

Here is the Nobody's Business photobook kit  item #132812 $19.95.   Remember, a photobook kit comes with all the premade template pages, but also individual elements that were used to make the pages.  This kit comes with 24 page templates, 27 piece stamp brush set, 12 papers, 49 embellishments, and 3 punches.  You can start with a pre-made template and change it up, as I did on page two of my Willis Tower spread, or leave it as it is and just plop in your photos.  Or, make a page from scratch, as I did here today.

Fun Stamp Find!

I recently bought the Take a Spin digital stamp set because I noticed the spinner hands were now just $0.79 on the Clearance rack and I had always thought they were fun.  Well, when I downloaded the set, it actually comes with over 40 stamps, not  the 4 that the real stamp set came with.  The digital set comes with the original pre-made spinner game card stamps, but then it also has all the elements used to make up those spinner cards.
Here is a picture to show what I mean.

here are just some of the included stamps!  Lots of good stamps for many occasions!  Graduation, Father's Day, and more!
I added the spinner game stamp to my blank page and used the coloring tool to add multiple colors to my stamp.  Then I copied and pasted them a few times.  I resized the images to fit the punch I wanted to use, then printed them out.
Fun cards to have on hand!  I made 6 in just a short time!  I bought 3 packs of spinner hands, to be sure to have them for a long time!
