Happy Birthday David

Hello everyone.  Is this a simple page or what?  Simple but it works for the photos and the occasion don't you think?  I used one background paper and one embellishment (three times) and that is it.  The little twinkeling stars are from a kit called after dark by Sarah Sahlin.  It is really for things like fireworks or magic or parties, but it was also perfect for my Star Wars themed cake.  I always ask my kids what sort of cake they want for their birthdays and it seems like they are getting a little crazier lately.  I am no cake designer for sure.  But even though it looks a bit off, I hope it tasted like love :)

The kit is $6.99 but when I went to go add the link I noticed that the bundle was on sale for $7.99.
Here is link if you would like to check it out

New My Memories Version 7!!

Hello my fellow Digital Scrapbookers! Did you hear the news?!?!  The new Suite 7 is now available from My Memories!!  I have already downloaded the new version and it has several great new features, some that those of you who had My Digital Studio really missed, such as the ability to crop stamps (imprints) and embellishments.  I cropped embellishments all the time in MDS so I am so happy that this has been added to the new MMS7! here is a list of new things...
I love the photo used indicator.  I am working on a photobook of my families summer vacation and I have lots of photos in that folder.  The indicator puts that little check mark on the photos as I add them to the book, so that I know I have used it already.  There are a lot of new features and I will talk about them as I use them.  I am looking forward to trying out the blured photo edges, the tile background and the new text features.  There is a cyber Monday sale going on now, so go check out the latest downloads and new suite 7 at the My Memories site!

Thankfulness Trees

Hello everyone!  I am sharing a fun new page today of the kids in my class.  Some of you know that I teach the pre-school age group Wednesday nights at the church I attend.  It is a super small class that I have while parents are at choir practice or group study, and the kids are a little young to join in with the bigger kids.  We do a little lesson and craft or snack and then we play.  Several of my pages feature the kids and I keep a scrapbook in the classroom.  Every so often the kids look through the book and remember some of the stories we learned about and I like this because I feel it helps cement the lesson in their minds or at least they recall it again, which can't hurt right?  Sometimes some of the older kids come back and look through the book too, which is sweet, or the little ones will see their bigger brothers and sisters in the pages and that is great too.  This is why I love scrapbooking.  Preserving memories for later is great to be sure, but cementing bonds in the short term is even better.  My kids will often look through the scrapbook and see themselves playing with a cousin they don't see often or even there current friends, and it reminds them 'these people love me' or 'I had fun with my dad that day' and so many other great thoughts.  In this page the kids learned their verse and then they told me things they were thankful for.  I then wrote those things, some of them even wrote the words themselves, onto leaves and we decorated a tree.   They seemed to get into the idea and came up with a lot to be thankful for.
To create my page I used this fun kit from Lynne Marie called Nutmeg.  She has a whole series that works together.  You can get them as a bundle or separately. There is also a free add on, which I were I got my background.
This is the Free add-on.  I love the tree rings and the frame.

Hi everyone!  Today I am sharing a sketch that is great for when you have a lot of photos to get on a page.  I have been meaning to do these photos for quite a while but never was feeling just right about them.  I saw this fun kit at Sweet Shoppe Designs last week during their big store wide sale, and decided to get it.  Now let me first say that I don't think that you need to have exact themed images to work with your photos.  You can still make a great page about bowling without a single bowling image, but I really liked the kit, especially the big Family Bowling sign.

here is my sketch.
You can get 7 photos on the page, maybe 8 if you put one where the flower is.

Here is the kit I used.  It is called Alley Cats by Traci Reed.

And on a side note to my former MDS Monday buddies:  If you are still making pages or looking for a place to share like we used to, check out Simply My Digital Studio Challenge on Facebook, you have to join, and share with me there.  Or, feel free to add you page to my Facebook page, I would love to see it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Storybook Pumpkins

Hello everyone!  I have a new page to share.  This is a page of my daughter and her pumpkin "Felicity".  The elementary school had a "Storybook Pumpkin" contest and Jillian was very excited to enter.  She wanted to make a Fairy, of course.  She chose Felicity the Friday Fun Day Fairy, one of her favorite series.

 Here is my sketch.

I used a kit called "Just one more Page" by Kaye Winiecki.  Her kits are really fun, I have bought quite a few.  This one is super cute and as I have some avid readers in the house I thought this kit will get some use.  I love the books and the book worm!  The papers are cute too!
Here is a link if you want to check her things out.  She has a couple cute freebie digital downloads, so look for those as well.

Another Minecraft Birthday

Last year my oldest son David wanted a Minecraft birthday cake and this year my son Zachary wanted one too.  Zachary did a search online and found one that was different than David's, and he wanted to get in on the decorating.  We made the cake the night before and you can maybe make out his t-shirt in the bottom photos, he wanted to match his cake.  he didn't know that the next morning I would have a new sweatshirt that matched it even more!

There are some fun Minecraft fonts over at

 Here is the sketch.

Here is the kit I used, called Pixel Addict.  If you have kids who love Minecraft, this will really come in handy! You can buy paper packs and elements separately, but I did the whole kit at once for $6.00!   Here is a link

When I made this page last year, I used individual squares in various shades of green. That was a bit crazy.  The papers from the Pixel Addict made life a whole lot easier this time around!!

Dracula Halloween treats

Last Halloween I posted a photo of some Dracula Coffin treat holders.  I have gotten several requests for the link to Stampin' Up! asking me the item number and how to buy it from them.  Unfortunate Stampin' Up! has decided to discontinue all digital products and they have taken down all links and files.
I made a template to share here.

Here is a link to my blog post from last year that shows how it is made.

Family Tree Template

Hello everyone.  I get a lot of requests and questions about this template that I posted a long time ago.  Stampin' Up! used to sell this template, but they no longer do.  I Thought I would share it here because I keep hearing from people who are trying to find it at Stampin' Up! and telling me that my old links to their site don't work   Such a bummer that they have discontinued all digital products.  :(    I heard rummers that they may start selling some of their digital products on sites like My Memories, and I did see their brand under the list of Digital Designers, but so far their section is empty.  So, here is the link until a new one is working from Stampin' Up!

Zachary Selfie

Zachary leaves me some interesting photos on my phone.  When I go to download them from the phone onto my computer I often find these little gems.  I think he is sticking his tongue out at me. That's what I get for losing my phone.

here is the sketch.

Mc Teacher Night

Hi everyone.  I have a new page to share today! Yea.  I have been away from the computer lately making 100 party favor bags for an upcoming event and am happy that I have a new page to share finally!!
The elementary school had a fundraiser on Tuesday at McDonald's and of course the kids wanted to go.  It was fun to see the teachers out of the school environment and it gave them a good excuse to have some french fries!  Jillian's Teacher was on duty while we were there, we missed Zachary's teacher, but we did meet Ronald McDonald!

I used papers and stamps from a kit called Zest.  You can find it here.

Here is the sketch that I used.

Super fun kit, so much here that I haven't even scratched the surface.

Thanks for stopping by!!

A Game of Freeze, with a lesson thrown in :)

Hi Everyone! I wanted to share a quick page that I made this week.  This page shows the kids in my Wednesday night church class.  I have the preschool and kindergartners and we get pretty crazy sometimes. On this night we read a story about Jesus calming the storm and we made crazy storms out of paper and wiggled all around until I said to "Be Still" and then they froze.  They had a lot of fun.
I used a kit called Nautical Fun from My Memories. You can find the kit here.

I used a sketch that I have used time and time again.  Luckily this page will go into the scrapbook I keep in the classroom and so it will not be next to a similar page in my home book.
I recolored the digital tape and changed out the papers, but other wise I kept it pretty much the same.

These photos show just a bit of what is included in the kit.

Thanks for stopping by!
