punch card

Look at the fun punch card I designed on My Digital Studio!  I printed out some of these business card sized punch cards for my Stamp Camp customers, and my online orders will receive a virtual card.  Fun right?!  I love that My Digital Studio allows us to make our projects in custom sizes now.   I was thinking of designing some new friend cards for my kids too.  They have gone back to school and are making new friends that they would like to make play dates with.  It would be a fun way for me to give their parents are email and phone information.  Look for that post soon!  :)  I am also thinking of making a digital  rewards card.  Digital downloads are so inexpensive that it would take a long time for my digital download customers to fill a punch card.  Hmm...  that is definitely something to think about.    In the mean time, what sort of business sized cards will you make?

Back to School Happy Dance

Jillian was so excited to get back to pre-school.  She was dressed and ready to go for hours, even wore her backpack most of the morning. When it was finally time to go after lunch, she started doing the happy dance!

I wanted to point out a small detail on my page, that I think makes a difference, maybe you will too, or maybe you'll think I'm nuts for caring :)  On my title I used the ticket punch and I wanted to have the ribbon go through the ticket, as if that's how its attached to the page.  I added a grey circle punch behind the ribbon knot to mimic a hole punch.  Here it is without...

And here it is with the circles....

What do you think?

Heading off to Middle School

Hi all!   It's back to school time again and I always make sure to get some pictures of the kids as they head off to school.  My oldest son David is beginning Middle School this year!  He is pretty happy about it all so far.  First time taking a bus, First time using a locker, and first time going from room to room all day.  We did a walk through the week before school and he will definitely be getting some exercise this year.  He's got classes all three different floors and at both ends of the school!   On the day of the walk through I brought out my camera.  He should be used to this as I've been stalking him with a camera for almost 12 years now.  But on this day, he wasn't having it.   He would not turn around until I put it away.  I can't blame him, he was surrounded by other middle school kids.
This page uses the perfectly titled "Back to School" download! And, this week at MyDigitalStudio.net there is a "School's in Session" contest, so I entered this page there too.  The prize is a free download!  What are you going to enter?  It's not just for demonstrators, so join on in.  If you are not sure how to upload your page to their site, let me know and I'll walk you through it!

Funny side note, David just walked in and is worried one of you will now break into his locker!  I told him that would only happen if he was keeping a stash of Stampin' Up! products in their!  My  fellow crafters are not interested in stealing his math book. :)   Too Cute!

MDS Monday #29

Hi everyone!  It's my turn to host at MDS Monday!  I have a fun page sketch for you, as well as a challenge for you to search through all your stamps and embellishments to find your frames.  Frames come with many of the stamp sets and kit and templates that we have.  I did a search through all  my stamps and embellishments and I was amazed at how many frames I have!  Have you use the search feature?  It is located at the bottom of your stamps or embellishment box.  Simply type in what you are looking for, in this case frames.   Here is what that would look like...

 here are my embellishment frames.

Here are my stamp frames.   You'll be surprised at how many you have.   I tend to use the downtown grunge frames a lot, so I am challenging myself go try some new ones.

Head on over to the MDS Monday site to see what the other team members came up with, then give it a try yourself!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

MDS Monday # 28!

It's Monday again!  Time for MDS Monday sketch number 28!!  This week we have a card sketch brought to us from Tara.   I went with a Christmas theme this week.  The kids started back to school TODAY!! and so I'm realizing summer is just about over.   I love fall and winter, so this is not really a bad thing for me.

Today's project uses the recently released Season of Style digital paper.  I love this paper, digital and real.  Very pretty!!  Are you wondering how I rounded the corners of the rectangles?  Well, normally I would  use a square punch, stretched into a rectangle.  This time I used a photo box stretched into a rectangle.  Using a photo box enables you to round the corners or rip the sides.  Fun.

Part of today's sketch is to use an "Embellishment Cluster" on your card.  Here I have used a star punch filled with gold glimmer paper, a Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ribbon, a Snowflake from the Snowday Woodcuts kit, a Rhinestone, a Merry Christmas tag and a little green flourish in the background.
Here is the sketch...

Now, head on over to the MDS Monday site and see what the other team members came up with.  Then make your own version and be sure to link it to the MDS Monday page so we can see what you've come up with!  Have fun!!

MDS Monday # 27 !!

Hello All!  Its Monday again!  yea!  a new sketch at MDS Monday.  This week the sketch is from Joan.  Here is my take.   I used the Designer Series paper pack "Birthday Basics" so many times last week in my paper projects, I thought I may as well use the digital version as well!  These fun pictures are my son Zachary eating his first birthday cake.  As you can see, he really liked it.

Here is the sketch...

Now, head on over to MDS Monday as see what the rest of the team came up with.  Then give the sketch a try of your own!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Just a tad behind

I love playing along with challenges, don't you?  They are such a great way to jump start your creativity!  This page us based on an old challenge from June, so I'm a bit behind, but that's ok.  In fact, if you haven't played along with challenges in the past, going back through some old ones will give you some inspiration to finish some pages, get used to how challenges work, and then start to play along.  What's the worst that can happen, you will get to know how to use MDS better?  OH NO!!  :)
For my local ladies who wish I had been able to do more in person classes on MDS this summer, here is some homework for you!  Upload something to MyDigitalStudio.net and your next class is FREE!!  You know who you are!! :)

Check out weekly Monday challenges at MDS Monday and SplitcoastStampers.   This page is from the June Progressive Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.

MDS Monday #26

It's Monday again!! This week we have a card sketch from Heidi.  This is such a fun sketch, I really love the banners.  Heidi has also added a challenge to the sketch.  The challenge is to alter the shape of  a punch.  I changed up a half circle to make it into a moon.  It is a fun thing to do and once you get a shape you want, you can save it in your punch files and have it to use forever.  Punches are great because they can be filled with papers or photos.   I used this tool once before when I wanted to make a highlight on a circle.  Check here for a step by step in pictures.  You can also check out what the other design team members have made at MDS Monday.   I hope you play along.

Here is the sketch!

And here is the page I made that used the crescent shape I made to make a shadow on the side of the snow globe.
