MDS Monday #34

Happy MDS Monday everyone!  This week Rochelle is hosting MDS Monday and she has a card sketch for us.  I made my card to match the 95th birthday page I made for last Monday!  This kit uses the Fan Fair download!  The Fan Fair download not only has these fun papers, but it also has the fun banner, number stamps and stitching too!  I added the flower from the "Festive Blooms" download.  These flowers are so pretty and there are a few different versions.  I love them, but rarely use them.  Rochelle challenged us to use an embellishment that we rarely use, so this was the perfect option for me.  Hope you like it!
Here is the sketch...

Now head on over to the MDS Monday site and check out what the rest of the team has come up with.  Then give the sketch a try!  Don't forget to show us what you come up with!

Too Cute to Spook

I really like this picture of my children in their Halloween costumes.  It's the only photo I have of them all together on Halloween, and I have been waiting to make a page with it for a while.  I saw a sketch challenge at Splitcoaststampers and decided to try it with this photo.  I really like how it turned out.  I used the Wicked Fun papers from a couple years back.  The large "spooky" is part of the actual paper.  The bat newsprint is from the newer Witches Brew  DSP.  I hope you like it.  Here is a link to the sketch.

It's MDS Monday again!  This week we have a page sketch for you.  This sketch is brought to us by Tara.  I used photos from my grandmother's birthday party this summer.  She turned 95.  The papers and embellishments on the page are from the Fan Fair download, a really great download with a fun vintage feel.
Head on over to the MDS Monday site to see what the other design team members have created with the sketch, then give it a try yourself.

Food labels

I was asked to make some baked goods for a school function recently.  I made an assortment of yummy foods and I realized that I would not be at the function, so I wouldn't be able to tell people what items contained nuts and which were gluten free.   MDS to the rescue! I opened up an 8 1/2 by 11 project page and added 4 punch rectangles which I filled with different colors.  I then added a stamp frame and text box with the treats description.  I sent them along with the treats and some stands.  I didn't take a picture of the food, but it looked really nice and I hope that they were all well received.  I thought about the food labels ten minutes before my friend was due to pick up the food, and by the time she got here, I had them all finished.  Super quick and easy!
Now that I'm writing this up I have to say I am super bummed that I didn't save any for myself!

This is how it looked before I printed them out.  I sent along the yellow one blank incase there was something else that needed a label.

Call Me

I'm playing around with yesterday's sketch from MDS Monday.  When I made my project for the challenge I opened up a card project in MDS.  When you do this it gives you 4 panels, because you get to design both sides, front and back of the card.  I have to say that I love this about the print service from Stampin' Up!  For the same price you get all 4 sides, so be sure to not leave anything blank!  Hint: you can delete the SU! logo off the back too.  I leave it on for some occasions, but usually I do a little "designed by Beth" sort of thing that matches the front.  Anyway, since I had 4 panels I made four different card fronts and then picked one to use at the MDS Monday site.  I decided to show you the ones that I didn't use for the challenge.   This one is fun, I may print out a few of these to have on hand.  I like to print out card fronts to then mount onto card stock as I need them.
I went to the circus with the kids last week so I think that's why I choose the "World Spectacular" papers for this one.

I just really like coloring in this peacock.  fun fun!  So, now lets see what you do with the sketch! Check it out at MDS Monday.

MDSM 32

Its Monday again everyone!  Joan has a card sketch for us this week at MDS Monday.  She also added a challenge to use a stamp sized to be larger than the space, and to use a border stamp.  I chose a small wreath from Jolly bingo bits.  I edited the stamp to make it really big, and cropped off the parts that didn't fit the square.  The crop feature is great and you can crop an image two ways.  When you open a crop box (by clicking on the crop button to the right side of your screen) you get this...
You can then move the white squares to expand or contract the image shown.  This is how I cropped my wreath.

You can also use a punch shape to crop your image.  I love this feature! Its so great when you are adding a stamp to a punch layer.  I took a screen shot to show you how this would look.  You can move the shape around on your image, reduce or enlarge the punch, reduce or enlarge your image.  Lots of options.

The FA LA LA LA LA  border stamp is from the Jingle and Joy download.
Head on over to the MDS Monday site to see what the other team members have created.  Then show us what you can do!

Fishing

I love the newish Outdoor Exploration download.  I knew it would be perfect for all the scouting pages I need to finish.  It's also perfect for family hikes and other adventures too.  The layout for this page is very similar to the page from MDS Monday this week, but instead of many papers on the top and bottom, there is just one.  I was surfing some blogs this weekend and I saw a page by Heather Summers that was about fishing and so I decided to make one too.  I loved her net in the corner and luckily I had that download too, so I added it (from the Game Day download).   All the other elements from this page are from the Outdoor Exploration kit.

MDS Monday #31

It's Monday yet again!  The weeks just seem to fly by!  Heidi has a super fun sketch for us today at MDS Monday!  I love that it allows me to use a lot of matching papers.  The digital "kits" and "ensembles" are my favorite downloads because of all the elements that work together to make the page look so great.  I love that there are papers and stamps and embellishments that co-ordinate perfectly.  I tend to stick with one kit or sometimes two on my pages, with some added embellishments when needed.  Here I used the Hello World Ensemble.   The cute little safety pin, arrow and banner are all from the ensemble.

Here is the sketch...

Pizza Night

This year I was given a pizza making kit for my birthday and the kids were very excited to try it out.  We decided to do it all from scratch, so we made the dough and let it rise early in the day.  The kids all had a great time shaping their pizzas and even tried tossing them in the air like they've seen on TV.   We used Basil from the garden and homemade sauce too!

I had several photos that I wanted to use, so I decided to make it a two page spread.  Do you  know about the insert page feature?  You can insert a blank page, a duplicate page, and a duplicate page mirrored.  I used the insert duplicate page mirrored feature.  Once I had the second page, I changed the photo boxes and text boxes.  I love this feature because it insures that both pages will line up, that the pages will look great side by side.
The paper used here is from the Domestic Goddess download.  The bowls and mixer are from the Homemade Happiness download.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have!! I am happy to help.

Heading to Hawaii

I am playing around with my Hawaii pictures.  I can't decide if I should make the pages 12 x 12 or 11 by 8 1/2.  This is a picture from the start of our trip, taken by the flight attendant who was kind enough to notice me trying to take the picture myself but not succeeding :)  It was about 7:30 in the morning and we had been up for hours already.
Here is the 12 x 12.

Here is the 11 by 8 11/2.

Both use the "Paradise Found" download from a few weeks back.
